  • How much does it cost to print?

    • Black and white pages cost 6 cents per page

    • Color pages are billed cost 30 cents per page. 

    • If you print on both sides of a piece of paper you will be billed for two pages.  

    • A page printed with even a minimal amount of color will be billed as color.

  • What is my page allowance?

    • You are given a printing allowance of $100 per year

      • $100 per year translates into 1,666 black and white pages.

  • How can I monitor my printing habits and current allowance?

  • What happens if I go over my printing allowance?

    • If you exceed your yearly printing allowance you will not be able to print. You must replenish your printing fund by going to https://printers.knox.edu:9192, log in, and clicking on Add Credit at the bottom of the left sidebar.

  •  Why was I charged for jobs I printed for my campus job or jobs I printed for a club?

    • Any jobs you print while logged into your Knox account will be charged to your PaperCut account. The College's printers can not distinguish whether a print job was personal, academic or work related. If you are worried about using your personal print allowance while at work consult with your manager as to how you should proceed. Typically, such print jobs should be referred to a staff member for printing.

  • Why was I charged for jobs I printed for my campus job or jobs I printed for a club?

For print credit from departments, please fill out the Print Fund Reimbursement Request form.

  • What happens if my print job doesn't print or comes out streaked? 

    • If you have trouble printing and are working in one of campus's main computer labs report it to the lab assistant on duty. They will ask for information about the printing problem and submit a reimbursement request, granted the failure was due to lab equipment or software. If you encounter printing trouble in an area other than the labs please go to the Knox ITS Support Request Page and complete a Request for a Print Refund.  If at all possible, please attach a scan of the problematic pages.

  • What printers am I allowed to print to?

    • Knox student, faculty and staff as a whole are allowed to print to any "public printer". Public printers are printers found in computer labs, libraries, or hallways. Certain printers located in offices are not considered public and should not be used unless you are a faculty or staff member of that department. For example, the printer on 2nd floor Old Main is public. The printer inside the Business Office is a Fac Staff Printer.
