Note: SMC A201 and A202 are typically treated as one large room. There is a heavy divider that may be lowered down to divide the rooms. Contact the Registrar’s office or Kelly Fisk for assistance.

Familiarize yourself with the AV equipment

Power Supply

Leave turned on all the time.

Main PC

When the PC is on, the light illuminates WHITE, if you find the PC turned off, press the power button once. 

Jiggle the mouse or press the keyboard to wake the computer.

Sign in to the computer with your username and password.

Do not shut down the main PC.

When finished, log off of the main PC.

Troubleshooting the computer

If you think the PC is unresponsive, press and hold the power button for a few seconds to force a shut down, wait a few seconds, and then press the power button once to turn it on.

Video Switcher

The video switcher helps select between multiple incoming video sources.

  • Identify the correct input number for your device connection and select it by pressing the appropriate button

  • The active selection is backlit with a red light

Room Audio

Note: Make all audio adjustments on the main PC.

  • Click the speaker icon (outlined in red).

  • Drag the slider on the bar left to turn down and right to turn up the volume (outlined in green).

The computer volume is muted if you see the speaker icon with an “x” next to it (outlined in red/green).

  • To unmute the computer, click the speaker icon with the “x” that is outlined in green.

Amplifier

No controls available.

DVD / Blu-Ray Player

Kaptivo Digital Whiteboard

To find the ID of the device you’re using, look at the base of the camera on the Kaptivo. This room’s code is: DNRMBG

  • To begin, go to kaptivo.com.

    • In the top right hand corner, click Connect to Kaptivo.

    • Enter the Kaptivo ID and then view the board.

      • For SMC A201, the Kaptivo ID is: DNRMBG

  • If the Kaptivo was in use:

    • To begin, go to kaptivo.com. In the top right hand corner, click Connect to Kaptivo.

    • Click “View Board” under the label DNRMBG/Kaptivo-A203.

Document Camera

TV: A201 Main PC

To turn the TV on, press the power button (outlined in red).

To bring up the source menu, press the home button (outlined in green).

To select a source, use the navigation wheel (outlined in gold).

Press the home button to navigate the image bellow:

Use the navigation wheel to select ‘SMC A201 PC’ shown below. Press the button in the center of the navigation wheel to make the selection.

You should now see the SMC A201 Main PC displayed on the TV.

TV: Wireless connection for laptop

To turn the TV on, press the power button (outlined in red).

To bring up the source menu, press the home button (outlined in green).

To select a source, use the navigation wheel (outlined in gold).

Press the home button to navigate to the source menu, as shown below:

Use the navigation wheel to select ‘Remote Access’ shown below. Press the button in the center of the navigation wheel to make the selection.

After you selected ‘Remote Access’, the screen shown below will appear:

Use the navigation wheel to select ‘Screen Sharing (Wireless Connection)’ shown below. Press the button in the center of the navigation wheel to make the selection.

After you selected ‘Screen Sharing (Wireless Connection)', the screen shown below will appear:

  • Next steps on your laptop:

    • Open the start menu in the bottom left corner of your computer screen. Choose settings.

    • In the settings window choose 'System'.

    • On the displayed page, scroll to the bottom and find the image shown below:

      • Click on ‘Connect to a wireless display’.

  • After you’ve clicked on ‘Connect to a wireless display’, the screen shown below will appear:

    • Select ‘[TV] Samsung 8 Series (82)’ from the Wireless display menu.

After you have selected the TV, you will see the TV display the name of your computer, as shown below:

You are now successfully connected, the screen from your laptop should now display on the TV as shown below:

By default, your screen will be duplicated. To modify this, click on ‘Change projection mode’ (outlined in red below):

Disconnecting the Wireless Display

A toolbar will pop up at the top-center of your laptop screen. Click on it to view your wireless connection settings. Or directly click on ‘Disconnect’ to end your wireless connection display.

Projector

Single Projector Use

  • The input on the project remote should be set to HDMI1 to display the same content as the computer.

    • To change this setting on the projector:

      • Turn the projector on.

      • Once the projector image is displaying on the screen, click the Source Search button (outlined in green). The projector will search for available feeds.

Dual Projector Use

When SMC A201 and A202 are used as a combined room, you may choose to present the contents of the SMC A201 computer onto both projector screens.

To accomplish this, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the A201 computer as usual and turn on the projector in A201 by pressing the power button (outlined in red above).

  2. Go to the A202 side, and turn on the A202 projector by pressing the power button (outlined in red above).

  3. Once the A202 projector is displaying an image, use the “Source Search” button (outlined in green above).

  • HDMI 1 is used to display ONLY the A202 lectern computer (outlined in red).

  • “HDBaseT” is used for dual display, on both projectors, of the A201 lectern computer (outlined in green).

  1. Once the projector in A202 has selected “HDBaseT”, the A201 lectern computer will be successfully displayed on both projector screens.

Stop Dual Projection

  1. To stop the dual display of the A201 lectern computer to both projector screens, hit the “Source Search” button on the remote for the A202 projector (pointed at the A202 projector).

  2. The A202 projector will now search again until it lands back on source “HDMI 1”. You will now be able to use the A202 lectern computer with the A202 projector.

Projector Screen

The projector screen is manual and there is a string at the bottom center.

To raise the screen, pull the screen by the string out away from the chalkboard a couple of feet, pull down, and release, allowing the screen to retract.

To lower the screen, pull down on the string until the screen has passed the chalkboard and let go for full extension.
