For step by step explanation, watch this tutorial.


1. Begin by opening your favorite web browser. For this we recommend using Internet Explorer, as other browsers require an additional authentication step.


2. Enter the following URL: https://knoxanyware.knox.edu. You will enter your full email address and password. Then click “Sign In”.

a. If necessary, allow the Remote Desktop Services add-on:


b. Clicking Allow will enable the following security options:

This is a public or shared computer: select this option if you use a public computer

This is a private computer: select this option if you are the only person who uses this computer




3. On the Applications page, open the desired application by clicking on an icon. Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.  are stored within the Office 2013 folder.

4. After clicking an application icon, click Connect on the RemotApp dialog box to access the application. If you selected This is a private computer
on the Sign In page, check Don’t ask me again for remote connections from this publisher.


Firefox users: select Open With
and check Do this automatically for files like this from now on. You will need to re-enter your Knox email and password.


Chrome users: when the download appears in the browser, click on the down-arrow and select Always open files of this type. Click the download to open the file. You will need to re-enter your username and password.


5. Enjoy using the virtual applications. Please periodically save all work to the appropriate directory. When finished using the application(s), Sign out of the the web browser and close the browser for security purposes.



**After 2 hours of inactivity, you will be disconnected from the server. Any work not saved will be lost. Periodically save your work.



Saving Files Using KnoxAnyWare: When you save a file you have the option to save to your personal computer or your Knox profile. Your Knox profile has 10 GB of space and is available on all Lab computers and through KnoxAnyWare. Your Knox profile is also backed up every night.

When  you are ready to save your file using an application located on KnoxAnyWare you will see the following locations:


“This PC”


Documents


Desktop

Your network profile which is backed up and available from devices using KnoxAnyWare and on all campus lab computers. This is the recommended place to store and back up files.

“C followed by the name of your personal computer"

A list of available directories on your personal computer will be listed.  Saving to your personal computer means these files are not backed up by Knox College so an alternate backup plan is necessary.

“Local Disk C”

This is the local disk of the server hosting KnoxAnyWare (Do not save files to this location).

(your username\student\studentyear\)(Z:)

This is also your network profile which is accessible from any lab computer as well as KnoxAnyWare. These files are backed up nightly.
