Familiarize yourself with the equipment in the AV Booth
Power Supply
IMPORTANT: This must be turned on for any audio or video needs.
The power switch is outlined in red.
The light that indicates the power is turned on is outlined in green.
Booth Audio
To have audio in the AV booth or Projector booth, turn on the Crown-D75A in the AV cabinet by turning the knob. (outlined in red)
To raise the volume in the booths, turn the Channel 1 or 2 knob to the right. (outlined in green)
To lower the volume in the booths, turn the Channel 1 or 2 knob to the left. (outlined in green)
Channel 1: Projector Booth Speaker
Channel 2: AV Booth Speaker
Video Switcher
The video switcher helps select between multiple incoming video sources.
Identify the correct input number for your device connection and select it by pressing the appropriate button
The active selection is backlit with a red light
5 disc changer is which input???
#1 - DVD/VHS
#2 - Guest HDMI
#3 - Main PC
#4 - Sony Blu-Ray
#5 - Guest VGA
#6 - Not in use
#7 - Not in use
#8 - Not in use
Blu-Ray player
DVD / VCR Player
To turn on the DVD / VCR Player, use the power button. (outlined in red)
Choose DVD or VCR from the section. (outlined in gold)
Use the Eject button to open the tray. (outlined in green)
Insert DVD/VHS and hit play.
CD Player - 5 Disc Changer
Press the power button to turn on the disc changer. (outlined in red)
Press the Open/Close button. (outlined in green)
Place the disc on the tray.
Repeat the above process for the desired number of discs.
Close the tray and hit play. (outlined in gold)
Notes:
You can’t have more than 5 discs in the carousel.
Never place more than a disc on a single tray.
To place a disc on the hidden tray, press the DISC SKIP button (outlined in purple)
Do not touch the carousel while it is rotating.
The disc must be loaded centrally into the disc tray. If the dis is not correctly loaded, it may not be possible to open the tray again once it has closed, so you should ensure the disc is always centrally loaded in the tray.
Do not force open or close the tray.
Switching CD’s
To switch between discs press DISC SKIP button (outlined in purple) until the desired disc number is displayed, then press the PLAY button or press the disc number button you want to listen to (outlined in teal). The selected disc will be played automatically.
Main PC
When the PC is on, the light illuminates WHITE, if you find the PC turned off, press the power button once.
Do not shut down the main PC.
When finished, log off of the main PC.
Troubleshooting the computer
If you think the PC is unresponsive, press and hold the power button for a few seconds to force a shut down, wait a few seconds, and then press the power button once to turn it on.
Credentials to login
Pick one of two ways to log in.
Log in with your account.
Log in with the generic account.
Username: .\Kresge
Password: Knox1837
Room Audio
Computer Audio
Note: Make all audio adjustments on the main PC first.
Click the speaker icon (outlined in red).
Drag the slider on the bar left to turn down and right to turn up the volume (outlined in green).
The computer volume is muted if you see the speaker icon with an “x” next to it (outlined in red/green).
To unmute the computer, click the speaker icon with the “x” that is outlined in green.
Mixer
Mixer Guide
Note: Increase faders gradually to avoid any detrimental issues to the system or the audience.
Do not raise or lower the faders suddenly.
The light outlined in red indicates the presence of power.
If the mixer isn’t powered on, locate the power switch. (indicated by the red arrow)
There is a better illustration of the power switch with it outlined in red.
Kresge has 5 wireless microphones installed. The faders for these are outlined in gold to control them.
To raise the volume of a microphone, raise the fader associated with it to Unity, or 0.
The fader, outlined in red, for input 17/18 controls all of the devices or connections that are hooked in from the video switcher and should be turned up if you are using one of them:
Computer
DVD Player
Guest HDMI
Guest VGA
CD Player
The 4 faders outlined in purple are the Sub-groups.
These must be turned up before the Master volume to Unity, or 0.
The fader outlined in green is the Master volume. This must be turned up to produce any sound.
Start raising the master fader slowly, until you reach a comfortable volume.
Note: You may not reach Unity, or 0, before you reach a good level for the theater.
Microphone not working
Followed instructions but there is still no audio from microphone?
Is the microphone turned on?
Press the power button on the microphone until a green light appears.
No green light appears on the microphone?
Batteries in the microphone are dead. Replace the batteries.
Unmute the channel for the microphone. (outlined in teal)
Feedback
Turn down the microphone causing the feedback immediately.
Adjust the Gain Knob by turning it to the left. (outlined in light blue)
Raise the volume on the fader for that microphone until you reach the desired audio level.
“Popping P’s”
Adjust the Gain Knob by turning it to the left until the P’s stop popping. (outlined in light blue)
Raise the volume on the fader for that microphone until you reach the desired audio level.
Wireless microphones
After selecting microphones from the bin, adjust the faders on the mixer according to which microphone you selected.
Amplifier
This has to be turned on to produce sound in the theater.
Note: Do not use any buttons other than power button.
The power button is outlined in red.
Projector
Note: Do not turn on and off the projector in less than 10 minutes. Doing so may cause damage to the projector or bulb.
The projector is located in the center of the theater at the back inside the projector booth.
The projector booth door is across the hall from the AV door.
Turning on the projector
Make sure the ‘Power’ indicator is lighted in steady orange before continuing. (outlined in gold)
To turn on the projector, locate the ‘Standby/On’ button on the back left side of the projector. (outlined in red)
Press it once.
Wait for the projector to power up. This may take a few minutes.
Turn on the source of the projected image so that something is displayed.
If you have the video switcher on the correct selection and are correctly plugged in, the projector may be on the wrong input. Verify that the projector is on ‘HDMI’ input by pressing the ‘Input’ button. (outlined in green)
Lower the projector screen to the appropriate height for the projected image.
Turning off the projector
Press the ‘Standby/On’ button once. (outlined in red)
The message “Power off?” will appear on the screen for about 5 seconds.
Press the ‘Standby/On’ button a second time. (outlined in red)
The projector lamp will go off and the ‘Power’ indicator will begin blinking in orange. (outlined in gold) Then the ‘Power’ indicator will stop blinking and light in steady orange when the lamp cooling is complete.
Projector Screen
Note: The screen does not need to fully extend. Only extend it as far as needed by having the projector turned on first.
To lower the projector screen, press the switch down.
To raise the projector screen, press the switch up.
To stop the screen, let go of the switch.
The projector screen switch is located along the back wall of the stage, to the right.
