Excel - Changing Protected View Settings

On occasion, end-users may receive an Excel file for an outside vendor.  In some cases the end-user must adjust the Protected View settings in order to open or edit the file.

End-users must be confident of the source of the file.  If you are not expecting a file, think twice before opening the file.

Step-by-step guide

1. Open Excel

2. Click File

3. Click Options

4. Click Trust Center

5. Click Trust Center Settings

6. Uncheck all of the boxes as shown:

   Open

   

7. Click OK

8. Click OK to close the Excel options page.

9. You should now be able to open the downloaded file
