Google Home / Chromecast / Google Nest Wi-Fi Registration

Note: iPhone process steps may be different from Android. This setup process essentially runs the setup process twice, this is completely normal and expected.

Connect to Knox Wireless until phone recognizes device. Once it’s recognized, switch to Knoxtronics on your phone. Make sure that a randomized/private address option is turned off. Connect the Google device to Knoxtronics as well.

If you encounter an infinite loading screen while setting up Google Assistant, use your personal email address rather than your school email.

1. Unbox and connect your Google Home Device to a power source.

2. Download and install the Google Home app from the App Store or Google Play Store.

3. Once installed, open up the Google Home App and proceed with setting up your device.

4. When the setup gets to the screen where it asks you to connect to a WiFi, press the three dots in the top right corner and select “Show MAC Address“.

5. Register the device on this form: http://knoxaccess.knox.edu/registration/GameRegister.jsp You may need to call in to the Helpdesk in order for your device to be registered properly. If you are unable to register your device via this link the following steps will not work

6. Wait 2 minutes then restart the device.

7. Temporarily connect your smartphone to KnoxTronics.

8. Connect to the Google Home device by using the smartphone’s Google Home app.

9. Complete the setup of the device using the Google Home app. Note: Set it up with KnoxTronics

10. Follow the prompts on your Google Home app to complete the final setup.

11. Once the device setup is completed, reconnect your smartphone to Knox-Wireless.

*The device will not be able to use the internet until the following day. Device registration requests are processed at midnight.

**Make sure you have enough device seats for your Smart Speaker. Students are given five seats. If you want to add a sixth device, use this form.
