Deep Freeze Reboot Loop Fix

The Problem

Machines running Deep Freeze are in a reboot loop after being unfrozen to install Windows updates.  This appears to happen most often in the Library.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Restart the computer in question.
  2. As it restarts, tap the F8 key.
  3. The following menu will display:



  4. Highlight "Repair Your Computer and hit enter.  The following screen will appear:



  5. Click on Command Prompt.  The Windows Command Prompt window will open.
  6. Enter the following command:  del C:\windows\winsxs\pending.xml
  7. Hit enter and the command will run.
  8. Exit the Command Prompt window.
  9. Restart the computer.
