The microphone box can be located on or near the lectern based on where the last person left it. The Lavalier microphones take AA batteries. For Mac Computers:

To select the K031 as your audio input, first, open your System Preferences.

Next, click Sound to display the Sound preference pane.

Click the Input tab and select the “USB PnP Audio Device” as the device for sound input.

If the “Speakers (USB PnP Audio Device)” is selected as the output for sound, you will not have any sound. “Speakers (USB PnP Audio Device)” is the Lavalier microphone you can find on the lectern. Be sure to change this to one or more sources until you have the desired sound output. Some classrooms will require you to use one of the following as the sound output selection:

  • “Speakers / Headphones (Realtek Audio)”

  • “Kramer VP-773A”

  • “Kramer VP-728”

  • Note: It may simply say “VP-773A” or something along that line.

If the right selections were made for audio output and nothing else is wrong, you should have audio to the classroom speakers for YouTube/DVD/etc..

If the right selections were made for audio input and nothing else is wrong, you should have audio to zoom/google meet/etc from the Lavalier microphone or webcam.

For Windows Computers:

To select the Lavalier Microphone as your audio source on the computer open up the Start Menu and click on “Settings”.

In the Windows Settings, click on “System” in the top left.

In the menu on the left, click on “Sound”.

If the “Speakers (USB PnP Audio Device)” is selected as the output for sound, you will not have any sound. “Speakers (USB PnP Audio Device)” is the Lavalier microphone you can find on the lectern. Be sure to change this to one or more sources until you have the desired sound output. Some classrooms will require you to use one of the following as the sound output selection:

  • “Speakers / Headphones (Realtek Audio)”

  • “Kramer VP-773A”

  • “Kramer VP-728”

Under Sound Input further down the same window:

To use the Lavalier microphone on the lectern choose “Microphone (USB PnP Audio Device)”.

To use the webcam microphone integrated in the webcam choose “Microphone (HD Pro Webcam C920)”.

Note:The name of the webcam may vary based on the brand of webcam installed.

If the right selections were made for audio output and nothing else is wrong, you should have audio to the classroom speakers for YouTube/DVD/etc.

If the right selections were made for audio input and nothing else is wrong, you should have audio to zoom/google meet/etc from the Lavalier microphone.

Be sure to test the equipment prior to needing to use it.
