Lavalier Microphones in Classrooms - Fifine KO31

The microphone box can be located on or near the lectern based on where the last person left it.

The microphone will not work unless the USB receiver is plugged into the computer.

If you do not see the USB in the box, or on the front of the computer, it is likely plugged in the back of the computer.

On the little LED screen located on the front of the lavalier microphone, you will see a battery indicator. The lavalier microphones take AA batteries.

If the batteries get below the 3 full bars, then the microphone may have trouble transmitting audio clearly. Replace the batteries and test the audio quality again.

For Mac Computers:

To select the Finine K031 lavalier microphone as your audio input, first, open your System Preferences.

Next, click Sound to display the Sound preference pane.

Click the Input tab and select the “USB PnP Audio Device” as the device for sound input.

If the “Speakers (USB PnP Audio Device)” is selected as the output for sound, you will not have any sound. “Speakers (USB PnP Audio Device)” is the Lavalier microphone you can find on the lectern. Be sure to change this to one or more sources until you have the desired sound output. Some classrooms will require you to use one of the following as the sound output selection:

  • “Speakers / Headphones (Realtek Audio)”

  • “Kramer VP-773A”

  • “Kramer VP-728”

  • Note: It may simply say “VP-773A” or something along that line.

If the right selections were made for audio output and nothing else is wrong, you should have audio to the classroom speakers for YouTube/DVD/etc..

If the right selections were made for audio input and nothing else is wrong, you should have audio to zoom/google meet/etc from the Lavalier microphone or webcam.

For Windows Computers:

In the Windows Settings, click on “System” in the top left.
