Initial Installation Procedure

  1. Confirm your Mac’s security settings. This is required to allow the temporary installation of the FortiNAC program on your Mac.

    1. Click the Apple Icon in the top left corner 

    2. Click System Preferences

    3. Open Security & Privacy

    4. Click the General tab. If prompted, enter your username and password you use to login to your Mac. Make sure you are unlocked to allow changes. 

    5. Under Allow apps downloaded from: select App Store and identified developers

2. Open a web browser and try to navigate to cnn.com or knoxaccess.knox.edu

3. You will automatically be sent to Knox College Network Access start screen. 

a. Read over the acceptable use policy by clicking the link

b. Click on Agree

4. The Welcome page will open. Click on option one: Students, Faculty, and Constituents who have a permanent Knox Account.

5. The Download screen will appear:

a. Enter your Knox username

b. Enter your Knox email password

c. Click Download. The FortiNAC installer will be downloaded to your computer

6. Run FortiNAC by double-clicking on the FortiNAC Persistent Agent.exe

7. When the installation completes a FortiNAC login box will open. 

  1. Enter your Knox username

  2. Enter your Knox email password

  3. Click Login

  4. FortiNAC will now begin a scan the checks your computer for required operating system upgrades and for the presence of an anti-virus software.

8. When the scan completes close and then reopen your web browser and navigate to http://cnn.com to confirm your access.
