If the desktop shortcut does not show up, try starting Mathematica 9.0 from the shortcut in the Mathematica folder on pc_apps. If it starts up fine, feel free to just copy that shortcut to your desktop yourself. If it does not start up, contact the Help Desk for Assistance (ext 7700).

Fonts do not appear in the Palette and / or do not appear in C:\\Windows\\fonts

For some unknown reason the fonts copied in as part of the install simply do not appear in the fonts folder or in the Mathematica palette. The fonts really are there, they are just hidden. Want confirmation the fonts are there? Try copying the Mathematica fonts into the fonts folder. An overwrite message will appear for each font already present.

  1. Open a command prompt window (You may have to run as an administrator for this to work properly)
  2. CD to the root of c:\
  3. Type: attrib -r -s c:\Windows\Fonts
  4. The fonts will now appear in the palette and in c:\windows\fonts.
