About

Android Phones may attempt to re-register multiple times under your registered device seats. Users are only allowed 5 registered device seats before needing to remove a device or add another device seat in their registration. This is due to a security setting that allows for the phone to generate a different MAC address every time the phone connects to a wireless network.

The Fix

Steps will vary by device.

  1. On the Android:

    1. Forget Knox-Wireless

    2. Reconnect to Knox-Wireless

    3. Tap the Settings icon for Knox-Wireless

    4. Tap “View More”

    5. Scroll down until you find “Mac Address Type”

    6. Select “Phone MAC” instead of “Randomized MAC”

    7. Navigate back to the phone’s home screen

    8. Open a web browser and go to knoxaccess.knox.edu to register your phone.

If this does not work, please contact the Knox ITS Helpdesk for further assistance. We may need to review your currently registered devices.
