IT Considerations when Preparing to Leave Knox - FacStaff
Moving on from Knox? Retiring? These are the IT related things you should consider and complete before your departure.
Protected Information: Student / College Confidential Information.
You may NOT transfer out documents or emails containing:
Personally Identifiable Information - Social Security Numbers, Student ID’s, etc.
Proprietary information of the College.
Emails labeled or marked as “Confidential” or “in confidence”.
Items to Consider
Account Access
Password access to your @knox.edu account will be removed at the close of business on your last day of work.
Your Z: Drive (Home Account) and Google Drive contents will deleted 30 dyas after your last day.
Hardware
All hardware issued to you will remain College property and should be returned to your office or ITS before departure.
Purchasing Knox-owned equipment for personal use is not permitted.
Your College-issued cell phone must be returned
You may keep the cell phone number if you’ve held the number for more than 2 years.
You must be ready to cut over the a new phone and service a few days before departure.
Have a place to store your personal, non-Knox related files.
Personal Google account
Knox retirement account
Drop box, Apple iDrive, etc.
External Hard Disk
Google Stuff
Email
Set an auto responder!
Google Apps: Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom
ITS can move the information for you

Moodle
Use the Moodle backup function to make a copy of your class
Download and move to your your new storage location.
Departmental Account (W:)
Copy to a Google Drive Shared Drive owned by the Department
Home Account (Z:)
Copy to your new storage location - - ideally a shared Google Drive
Data on your Knox-issued computer
Data that has not been backed up on our servers
Items NOT on your desktop or My Documents Folder.
NOTE FOR MAC USERS
NONE of the data on your College-owned computer hard disk has been backed up by Knox ITS
Personal application software you installed on your Knox-issued computer
You will be responsible for relicensing for use on your personal or next work Computer.
