General Information

This page lists Windows Specific Shortcuts. For general shortcuts, see: Shortcuts.

Most Windows Specific Shortcuts utilize the the WIN Key (the keyboard key with the Windows logo on it). They can be used to preform quick functions that many people find useful.

Normally, the WIN key just brings up the Start Menu.

Popular Shortcuts

ALT-TAB

Cycles through open windowed applications and the desktop.

ALT-F4

Closes the program currently in focus. On the desktop, it will bring up the shutdown/restart/sleep dialogue box.

WIN-D

Minimizes all windows and shows the Desktop

WIN-E

Brings up an Explorer window

WIN-L

Locks the Computer (if it is password protected)

WIN-R

Brings up the run command

WIN-TAB

A more stylish version of Alt-Tab; cycles through open windowed applications

WIN-P

This will give the user the option to switch from extended to duplicate screen for multi-display setups.
