Abolition Lab
  • The TV’s in the Abolition Lab are to be left turned on and running the digital signage when not being used for screen sharing.

  • To revert back to digital signage, switch to HDMI 1, labeled “PC”, when the digital signage PC is actively turned on and working.

  • The TV’s may be turned off overnight to conserve lifespan.

  • Do not turn off the Digital Signage PC stick plugged into HDMI 1.

  • There is no computer behind the TV’s for general use, meaning there is no keyboard and mouse either.

  • The Digital Signage PC sticks are not to be used for anything except the Rise Vision digital signage application.

Turning on the TV’s

  • On the bottom left corner of the TV, run your finger across and you will feel the power button.

    • Press once to turn the TV on or off.

  • Or, utilize the remote if available to you.

    • Find the appropriate remote for the TV you are using. Look at the sticker at the bottom right corner of the TV and find the corresponding remotes.

Wired Connection

  • For a wired HDMI connection, utilize an HDMI cable and plug it into Input 3 or 4 on the back right side of the TV.

    • Do not use HDMI 1 or 2. (Do not unplug PC Stick)

    • Change the input to HDMI 3 or 4 utilizing the remote.

Wireless Connections

  • The TV’s come with Airplay and Chromecast.

    • If you are using a Mac, use Airplay.

    • If you are using a Windows PC, use Chromecast.

  • To utilize the wireless connections, you must be connected to KnoxTronics on your laptop.

    • Go to your WIFI settings and choose KnoxTronics.

      • Enter the password: AsDfGW2481632

Airplay

  1. Use the remote to change the input to Airplay.

    1. The input button is on the top left corner of the remote.

  2. You will now see the Airplay screen on the TV.

  3. To utilize the wireless connections, you must be connected to KnoxTronics on your laptop.

    1. Go to your WIFI settings and choose KnoxTronics.

      1. Enter the password: AsDfGW2481632

  4. In the upper right corner of your Mac, click this button.

  5. Choose screen mirroring from this menu.

  6. If all four TV’s are turned on and the Input is on Airplay, you will see them appear as “1”, “2”, “3”, and “4”.

  7. Once you have selected which TV screen you want to cast to, look at the TV screen for the four-digit code.

    1. The TV will display the name of your computer as a confirmation.

  8. Enter the four-digit code on your computer.

  9. Once you enter the four-digit code, your computer will automatically cast to the TV.

Airplay to Multiple Displays

Mac users can Airplay to two TV’s at the same time by repeating the Airplay process above and selecting a second available display.

Chromecast

  1. Use the remote to change the input to Smartcast. Input button is on the left corner of the remote.

  2. After choosing Smartcast from the input menu, you will land on the Smartcast Home screen.

  3. To utilize the wireless connections, you must be connected to KnoxTronics on your laptop.

    1. Go to your WIFI settings and choose KnoxTronics.

      1. Enter the password: AsDfGW2481632

  4. On your Windows PC, click the three dots to get to the Google Chrome settings.

  5. In the casting menu if all the TV’s in the Abolition Lab are turned on, you will see them here.

  6. When you first start casting, you are only casting your tab. Your screen will have a black line at the top and the bottom. To remove this you must cast your entire screen.

  7. Open the casting menu again and navigate to the sources at the bottom. Choose cast screen.

  8. You will now be casting your full screen and any windows you want to.

ChromeCast to Multiple Displays

To Chromecast your laptop to multiple displays, simply repeat the process of opening the cast menu and selecting different available TV’s.

  • Windows can cast to all four displays at once.

  • Macs can only cast to two displays at once.

Digital Signage

  • The Digital Sign is ran off of a small PC plugged into HDMI 1.

    • This is not to be unplugged for any reason unless done by the ITS staff.

    • This PC does block the use of HDMI 2.

  • To display content from the Digital sign, use the TV remote to switch the input to “PC”.

    • Press the input button on the top left corner of the remote.
