When accessing the printer, you will first see a PaperCut login screen.

  1. Tap on the username text box to bring up the onscreen keyboard. Enter your Knox username (without @knox.edu at the end) and tap OK.

  2. Tap on the Password text box. Enter your Knox password and then tap OK.

  3. Now with both fields entered completed, tap on the Log in button.

  4. You will be presented with two options, Print Release and Access Device.

Print Release

Choose this option for releasing print jobs you have sent to the printer from your device.

  1. Tap on Print Release.

  2. You will now be shown what print jobs you have available for release under your account.

  3. Tap on the print job you wish to print to check the box and then tap on the Print button.

    1. You can also tap on the Trashcan icon next to Print to cancel the job from the printer as well.

    2. If the print job sent was in color, you can check the box “Print as grayscale” to print instead in black and white. You can also check “Print as 2-sided” as well to enable duplexing for the print job.

  4. Once finished, next to your name toward the top-right, click on the Log Out Symbol to return the printer back to the PaperCut login screen. The printer will also auto log out after 30 seconds.

Access Device

Choose this option for using the on-device functions of the printer.

  1. Tap on Access Device. This will take you to the following screen. Tap on the Access Device button below your name to proceed.

  2. You are now able to use the on-device functions:

Copying

  1. Tap on Copy on the Device Functions screen.

  2. You will be presented with the default options as shown. By default, the printer will automatically match the original.

  3. Scanning from Glass: By default, the printer will scan a document from the Glass scanner under the top lid.

    1. Lay the page you would like to scan printed side down. The page needs to be aligned with the arrow symbol in the top-left corner.

  4. Scanning from Document Feeder: If a document is loaded into the Document Feeder on top of the printer, a green light will illuminate on top indicating the device will use the Feeder instead of the Glass.

    1. Documents need to be inserted Printed Sided up (if single sided) as shown like the test page below. Arrows on the inside of the tray indicate the maximum about of pages the Document Feeder can scan at once.

  5. Finishing options

    1. Tap on the blue Options button on the Copy screen for customization. Stapling for example is under the Finishing button on this screen.

  6. Once your document is loaded and any options you want selected, click on the green Start button in the bottom-right corner of the screen to begin copying.

Scanning

  1. Scan and Send
Use this option for scanning documents and sending to a Knox email address.

    1. Tap on Scan and Send, the tap on Address Book.

    2. Tap on the To LDAP Server button toward the top-right of the screen.

    3. Tap on the open textbox at the bottom of the screen to bring up an on-screen keyboard.

    4. Enter the person’s name and tap OK. You should now have a narrowed down list showing the person you’d like to send. Tap on the name which will highlight yellow and click OK.

    5. Once you have the email address chosen, load your document(s) using either the Glass or the Document Feeder on top (see steps under 3 and 4 under Copying above on how to use either scanner). By default, the printer will scan from the Glass unless documents are loaded into the Document Feeder on top.

    6. Tap on the green Start button in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Your document(s) will now scan and email to the Knox email address you chose. NOTE: The printer can only send to Knox email addresses.

  1. Scan and Store
Choose this option if you’d like to scan to a personal USB flash drive plugged into the printer.

    1. You will first need to plug in your USB flash drive in the USB port located on the right side of the printer. NOTE: Your USB drive must be formatted in either FAT32 or exFAT formats.

    2. Tap on Scan and Store. Then, tap on Memory Media.

    3. Now, tap on your flash drive listed. The name shown will vary depending on the USB flash drive you are using.

    4. Click on the Scan button that appears once you select a destination on your USB Flash drive. This will scan the document you have on either the Glass or the Document Feeder on the printer (see steps under 3 and 4 under Copying above on how to use either scanner).

Using the Built-in Stapler

  1. In addition to the stapling option you can use when printing and copying, there is an on-device stapler located on front of the printer. The device can staple up to 50 pages depending on the thickness of the paper you are using.

    1. Insert the top corner of your document (First page printed side facing down).

    2. The green Staple light will illuminate once your document is in the correct position.

    3. Hold your document in place, the green light will begin flashing. You will hear the stapler activate and the light will immediately turn off.

    4. You can now remove your stapled document.
