Self Selecting a Breakout Room in Zoom
To self select a Breakout Room in Zoom, you must use the desktop client or the mobile application. The web application will not work. This applies to the host as well as the participants.
To download the desktop client please follow these Zoom Installation Instructions. The msi installer is recommended.
Host Instructions
1. Download the Zoom Desktop Client or Zoom Mobile Application.

2. Enable Breakout Rooms
Please view this Zoom Support article to enable Breakout Rooms.
3. Join a Meeting
Your meeting must have at least three participants, including the host, to self select a room.
4. Open Breakout Rooms
Once you are in your meeting, press the Breakout Rooms option and enter the number of rooms to open.
Select the option “Let participants choose room” and click Create.
Another window will pop up. You can Add another room from this page as well.
Click Options and select “Allow participants to choose room”
Select “Open All Rooms”
Participant Instructions

3. Self Select Breakout Room
Once the host has opened the Breakout Rooms, click the Breakout Room option at the bottom of the screen.
Select the “Join” option to the right of your desired room.
