Connect device to Knox Guest Access


Knox Guest Access Wireless and Registration

Knox College Guest Access wireless is designed to provide basic capability. Web browsing and access to most email systems is available. This network is not designed to support streaming media, gaming, or presentations. You will need to redo these steps for every 7-day period that you need WiFi Access.

  1. Go to the Home Screen on your device.

  2. Open Settings

  3. Open Network or Wi-Fi Settings

  4. Select Knox Guest Access

    1. All mobile devices (including laptops) should disable “Random MAC address” or “Private Wi-Fi address”. Refer to this link for directions: Mobile Device Issue - MAC address on Knox Networks

  5. Tap Connect. You will be connected without internet.

  6. Go to a web browser of your choice (Google Chrome, Safari, etc.)

  7. If not automatically prompted, go to knoxaccess.knox.edu

    1. This will bring up the Network Access page.

  8. Click on the “Plus Symbol” next to “Self Registered Guests” in the middle of the page.

  9. This will bring up the “Guest Self Registration” page.

    1. Enter your Email.

      1. You have to use a valid email address to receive your password via email.

    2. Enter your First Name.

    3. Enter your Last Name.

    4. Enter a Reason for why you are using the Guest Wi-Fi.

      1. This does not need to be detailed. Enter a brief description of why you are using the Guest Wi-Fi.

    5. Click Request Guest Access.

  10. A new page will appear with the email you entered and a newly created password.

    1. You will be emailed the name you entered, your email address for the Knox Guest Access network, and the length of time you have left to use the network. You will receive a second email with your password for the Knox Guest Access network.

      1. To log into the guest network again, you will need the username and password.

  11. Check the box that you agree to the terms set forth in the acceptable use policy.

  12. Click Login.

  13. After clicking login, you will see a page that says Success. Please wait until the timer is finished.

  14. When the timer finishes, you will see a message at the top of your screen that says “Your network connection has been reconfigured. Please close and reopen your browser.”

  15. Close and reopen your browser.

  16. You will then have 7 days before needing to repeat these steps to be registered on the Knox Guest Access network.

Note: All users must register their device.

Connect multiple devices to Knox Guest Access

You can connect up to 5 devices to the Knox Guest Access network. No more than 5 devices are allowed, even if you submit a request to add more, your request will be denied. To register a second device, follow the steps above to register the first device before following these instructions.

  1. To register the second device, on the second device follow steps 1 through 8 from above, then return to step 2 below.

  2. You will be on the Guest Self Registration page again, except this time you will click the link outlined below that states “If you have already registered a device and have received your guest credentials, please click here to register an additional device.”

  3. You will be brought to a second Guest Self Registration page that only asks for your username and password.

    1. Enter your username and password that you received from registering your first device.

    2. Click Download.

  4. Do this for every device that you want to connect to the Knox Guest Access network.

Note: All users must register their device.
