ChemBio 3D

Installation on Knox College Owned Computers

  1. Go to your N:\ drive
  2. Navigate to and open the ChemBio
  3. Open the Readme.txt file.  You will need this information in order to complete the installation.
  4. Double-click on install.exe
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.  Fill in the appropriate fields using the information from the readme.txt file.

Installation on Personal Computers

Go to my.knox and sign in. Under help desk, go to Chem Bio 3D Ultra. Go through those instructions. 

 

 

Knox College now owns a site license for ChemBio 3D (Mac and Windows). This means that you are able to download fully functional chemistry or biology software and have access to online databases, via the Knox College site subscription, which has been prepaid by Knox.

CHEMBIO 3D Ultra Description:

The ChemBio3D Ultra software suite also includes ChemDraw Pro 12.0, ChemBio3D Ultra 12.0 , ChemBio3D interfaces to MOPAC, Schrödinger's Jaguar, and Gaussian, GAMESS Pro 12.0 , ChemBioFinder Std 12.0, ChemDraw/Excel, E-Notebook Pro 12.0 and the ChemDraw and Chem3D ActiveX Pro Controls & Plugins.

ChemBio3D Ultra brings workstation-quality molecular graphics and rigorous computational methods to your desktop. Integration with molecular analysis makes ChemBio3D the ideal software for chemists and biochemists.

ChemBio3D Ultra enables you to explore the structure of large chemical and biological models. The Structure Browser is a new tool for viewing sets of small structures and their properties for analysis and comparison.

ChemBio3D Ultra provides affordable building, visualization, and computation tools on the desktop. Chem3D can be used to display many types of molecular surfaces and molecular orbitals. For macromolecules, Chem3D can render cartoon depictions of proteins and nucleic acids making it possible to carry out state-of-the-art protein visualization on the desktop.

Steps to download:

  • Enter Knox email address in the "Site License Verification" box and click "Submit"
  • Click "Continue" once page loads after the "Site License Verification"
  • You will need to register to continue** Click "Register" button** Enter personal information (Email address has to be Knox email)** For students, enter "Academic" for Industry, and "Bio student" or "Chem student" for Role** For Fac, choose Bio/Chem Prof.
      • Enter "Knox College" in the Organization box.
      • Notifications section is optional.
    • Click "Register." An email will be sent to the registered email address.

Keep this email, it is IMPORTANT!

  • Once registered, log in to CambridgeSoft
  • Click the appropriate download link for your operating system.

Steps to install:

  • When the download finishes, run the installer and follow the onscreen prompts
  • After the install, you will be required to register and activate the software** To activate and register, enter all information it requires, and enter the Serial Number from the email
    you received earlier.** Click the "Activate" button; if it fails, click the "Retry" button
  • The software should be activated and you will be able to run it.
