GMail - Undo Send Feature
About
Gmail has a setting that delays the sending of a email for up to 30 seconds after clicking the Send button. This is exceptionally handy for those "Aw Rats!' moments when you realized there is an error in the message.
Undo Send works by "freezing" GMail activities for up 30 seconds and then sending the message if the "Undo" button had not been clicked.
Setting Up
- Open GMail
- Click the Settings Gear in the upper right hand corner of the GMail screen.
- Click Settings from the drop down list.
- Click on the General Tab
- Scroll down to Undo Send
- Adjust the settings as follows
- Click the box to turn the feature on.
- Set the number of seconds for the delay before the message is sent via the drop down list.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Window and click the Save button.
Use
- Type your email as usual.
- Click Send
- A message will appear at the top of the screen offering you the chance to "Undo" the send.
- Click "Undo" if you need to stop the send.
- If you clicked "Undo", you will be returned to the Drafts window.
- If you do not click Undo, the message will be sent after to allotted time frame.
- Clicking "View Message" immediately sends the message.
