Note: SMC A201 and A202 are typically treated as one large room. There is a heavy divider that may be lowered down to divide the rooms.

Familiarize yourself with the AV Equipment

AV Equipment

Power Supply

Leave turned on all the time.

Main PC

When the PC is on, the light illuminates WHITE, if you find the PC turned off, press the power button once. 

Do not shut down the main PC.

When finished, log off of the main PC.

Troubleshooting the computer

If you think the PC is unresponsive, press and hold the power button for a few seconds to force a shut down, wait a few seconds, and then press the power button once to turn it on.

Video Switcher

The video switcher helps select between multiple incoming video sources.

  • Identify the correct input number for your device connection and select it by pressing the appropriate button

  • The active selection is backlit with a red light

Input - 1: Blu-Ray/multi-region player

Room Audio

Note: Make all audio adjustments on the main PC first.

  • Click the speaker icon (outlined in red).

  • Drag the slider on the bar left to turn down and right to turn up the volume (outlined in green).

  • The computer volume is muted if you see the speaker icon with an “x” next to it (outlined in red/green).

    • To unmute the computer, click the speaker icon with the “x” that is outlined in green.

Amplifier

No controls available.

TV: A202 Main PC

To turn the TV on, press the power button (outlined in red).

To bring up the source menu, press the home button (outlined in green).

To select a source, use the navigation wheel (outlined in gold).

Press the home button to navigate the image bellow:

Use the navigation wheel to select ‘SMC A202 PC’ shown below. Press the button in the center of the navigation wheel to make the selection.

You should now see the SMC A202 Main PC displayed on the TV.

Note: You can also choose to show the SMC A201 PC on this TV. For this to work, the SMC A201 PC needs to be turned on and logged in. Simply choose “SMC A201 PC” as shown below.

TV: Wireless connection for laptop

To turn the TV on, press the power button (outlined in red).

To bring up the source menu, press the home button (outlined in green).

To select a source, use the navigation wheel (outlined in gold).

Press the home button to navigate to the source menu, as shown below:

Use the navigation wheel to select ‘Remote Access’ shown below. Press the button in the center of the navigation wheel to make the selection.

After you selected ‘Remote Access’, the screen shown below will appear:

Use the navigation wheel to select ‘Screen Sharing (Wireless Connection)’ shown below. Press the button in the center of the navigation wheel to make the selection.

After you selected ‘Screen Sharing (Wireless Connection)', the screen shown below will appear:

  • Next steps on your laptop:

    • Open the start menu in the bottom left corner of your computer screen. Choose settings.

    • In the settings window choose 'System'.

    • On the displayed page, scroll to the bottom and find the image shown below:

      • Click on ‘Connect to a wireless display’.

  • After you’ve clicked on ‘Connect to a wireless display’, the screen shown below will appear:

    • Select ‘[TV] Samsung 8 Series (82)’ from the Wireless display menu.

After you have selected the TV, you will see the TV display the name of your computer, as shown below:

You are now successfully connected, the screen from your laptop should now display on the TV as shown below:

By default, your screen will be duplicated. To modify this, click on ‘Change projection mode’ (outlined in red below):

Disconnecting the Wireless Display

A toolbar will pop up at the top-center of your laptop screen. Click on it to view your wireless connection settings. Or directly click on ‘Disconnect’ to end your wireless connection display.

Projector

Projector Use

The input on the project remote should be set to HDMI1 to display the same content as the computer.

To change this setting on the projector:

  1. Turn the projector on.

  2. Once up and illuminated, click the Search Source button. The projector will search for available feeds. Click the Search Source again as needed until the desired image is displayed.

Dual Projector Use

When used as a common room, presenters may choose to display the contents of the computer on the A201 side onto both projector screens.

  1. Login to the A201 computer as usual and use the A201 projector as with any other classroom computer.

  2. Go to the A202 podium and locate the remote for the A202 projector.

  3. Turn the projector on.

  4. Once up and illuminated, click the Search Source button. The projector will search for available feeds. It the A201 display does not appear, click the Search Source again until the desired image is displayed.

To turn on: Press the power button once. Wait for the projection to load. Might take a minute.

To turn off: Press the power button, watch for the text that will show up in the projection. Press the power button again to fully turn it off.

Freeze: This button will “freeze” the projection. The display will stay the same regardless of what you do in the computer. Press the button again to “unfreeze” and the projection will go on as usual.

Projector Screen

The projector screen is manual and there is a string at the bottom center.

To raise the screen, pull the screen by the string out away from the chalkboard a couple of feet, pull down, and release, allowing the screen to retract.

To lower the screen, pull down on the string and let go near the chalkboard shelf for full extension.
